Navigating in the Girona area is pretty difficult as it is gifted with so many roads and trails that it’s easy to get lost or miss the best places.
So, as charming the area can be, the best way to really enjoy your trip is letting a local guide lead you into the amazingness of Girona and its surroundings.
A good guide will be able to make your dream trip real, doesn’t matter if you are thinking about riding towards the beach in sinuous roads and breathtaking sea views or doing a training and more challenging ride towards the mountains.
Josep has worked as a guide for us at Bike Breaks in Girona for 8 years now and anyone who knows him knows he is the best guide in the city.
A local from Girona who has lived and worked in the area all his life.
A lifelong cyclist having competed in national competitions over the years both after and during his time serving in the army.
Josep has an encyclopeadic knowledge of all things cycling and Girona related. From the history and food to the labyrinthine network of roads and trails.
A very important member of the Bike Breaks team and the best guide in town by far, if you are lucky enough to be able to book him, he will be sure to make your riding in Girona the best possible experience.
I would recommend Bike brakes to anyone wishing to tour Girona and surrounding area. They are a professional team of enthusiasts and really do think of everything. . We all had varying abilities but our Guide Josep went above and beyond to make sure our cycling experience suited everyone. A really lovely guy and a pleasure to hear his stories over a well earned beer after a long day in the saddle.
The ladies in the main shop are very experienced and nothing is to much bother. Very friendly.
They have just opened a new clothing shop.
The rental bikes are very high spec.
We had an absolutely incredible experience on the Medieval Villages tour with Josep! He ensured the ride was at the perfect level for two (very) amateur cyclists—challenging enough to feel like a significant accomplishment by the end of the trip, but manageable, enjoyable, and safe the whole way through.
The villages of the Girona countryside are truly a sight to see. Straight out of a fairy tale, with winding cobblestone roads, castles, and old farmhouses dotting the hills. Josep seemed to know the history of every square meter of land we passed, and his stories complemented the beautiful scenery perfectly. All in all, an experience we will never forget!
