We have had a few enquires from cyclists looking to get back to Girona and enjoy some winter sun and winter miles.
With so many different measures in place in so many different places, it can be very confusing to know what to expect.
We thought it might be handy if we explain the restrictions currently in place here and the provisions for what is expected to come and how this affects visiting riders.
Girona and Catalunya is currently in Phase 2, which means that the following measures which are most likely to affect visitors are in place. The phases are reviewed every 2 weeks.
- Currently we have a 10pm curfew in place.
- Currently weekend (Friday to Sunday night)travel is restricted to the municipal area or district. On a bike you can go only in the area you are staying in and neighbouring areas. So in reality this does not affect cycling that much but is more meant for cars.
- Restaurants are limited in capacity inside and on terraces. But you can eat in them and most are open as normal.
- You must wear a mask in public, you do not need to ride in one but should carry one with you on the bike.
For cyclists you can ride in groups of 6 or less and weekdays you can go as far as you like.
Schools are open and most shops are open as normal as well.
In terms of international travel there is only the need for a negative PCR test before entry into Spain. Essentially all borders are open and there are no restrictions other than the test.
This may all change very soon of course, but this is the situation for now, do please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
We are running our weekly Thursday ride as normal, but with smaller groups, you are most welcome to join if you are in town.
We will continue to try to update this blog with any changes that come along as we move into 2021.
Which we hope will be a better year than 2020. If anyone has any questions about now or the future do let us know.
We, at Bike Breaks, are preparing for 2021 in the hope that people will be able to travel to us for some cycling in Girona and we will have brand new 2021 Cannondales as normal, new routes, new products but the same awesome cycling.
