History of Bike Breaks Girona
Bike Breaks, set up in 2008 as a tour company and rental centre specializing in all things related to Cycling in Girona.
It is incredible how much Girona has evolved into the cycling hub it is today since then. And we, as Bike Breaks, have seen it all and have played a big part of this development. We’ve seen Girona grow from the days when it was just locals, a few tourists and Lance Armstrong cruising around the streets, to the pro cycling hub it is today. We started Bike Breaks as a team already 10 years ago after spending the 8 years prior to that gaining experience in the industry here in Girona to be able to establish our own family business.
We both fell in love with the area for its beauty and all the possibilities it has for cycling as we are avid riders and qualified guides. We are also former competitors in local cross country races and European cup downhill marathon competitions. We wanted to create a great space where people could share in our passion for cycling, and we are very grateful and happy to see what Bike Breaks has become
For 10 years we planned and ran tours, day trips and all types of cycling services from our cycle centre hub in Girona. We have over the years amassed a huge knowledge of the area and produced a massive resource for cyclists visiting Girona.
Online resource for Cycling in Girona
We took the decision to scale back our service in Girona due to the lack of people able to travel due to the global pandemic.
But we have kept the website online to create and maintain this resource for riders hoping to come to Girona to cycle.
We will post blogs adding to the collection about where to ride and cool places to visit on and off the bike. We have a vast collection of GPX tracks available to download from the website for all types of cycling.
We include a section of recommended hotels and places to stay that are bike friendly, as well as the free guide to bike packing in the area. So if you are planning a cycling trip to Girona this is a good place to browse some of the options and possibilities and hopefully help you to get the most out of your trip.
