The road bike option is a ‘medium’ difficulty tour with daily rides of between 50 and 80km and some climbs of up to 600m altitude. This tour is suited for riders who normally ride on the road.
During the tour riders will stay in a variety of hand-picked accommodations, riding between hotels whilst we take the bags!
The tour is available with luxury accommodation and a less expensive basic accommodation option.

Girona countryside · ROAD BIKE
Day 1
Arrival in Girona Welcome meeting and bike fitting.
Day 2 Route: Girona to Monells or La Bisbal d’Empordà
Difficulty: Easy Length: 25 km Description: Day one on the bike takes riders over the famous mountain of Els Angels at 484m altitude before descending into La Bisbal d’Empordà which is the county capital. With only one big climb and descent, day one is an easy ride allowing our guests to relax into their trip, so no need for an early start! Els Angels monastery is a 15th century mountain top retreat loved by riders from all over the world but perhaps most famous for being the location of Salvador Dalí’s 1958 wedding to his wife Gala. It is one of the most famous road bike hills in Spain. Accommodation: Guests will stay in either a fabulous restored 14th century hospital in the fantastic village of Monells for the luxury option or a cosy hotel and restaurant next to the old town in the regions capital La Bisbal d’Empordà.
Day 3 Route: Monells or La Bisbal d’Empordà to Sant Marti d’Empúries
Difficulty: Medium Length: 45km Description: For day two on the bike, riders follow the route north through rolling hills dotted with olive groves and vines visiting the walled village of Verges, and the hilltop hamlet of Sant Iscle d’Empordà. A stunning ride on quiet country roads with no long climbs but some small hills to test you. Accommodation: Guests will stay in either the sea front hotel located 10m from its own secluded beach near the tiny cliff top village Sant Martí d’Empúries or in a typical Catalan farmhouse in Sant Pere Pescador.
Day 4 Route: Sant Marti d’Empúries to Calella de Palafrugell.
Difficulty: Medium Length: 45km Description: Today’s route runs south along the coast before cutting inland and crossing the Les Gavarres mountains’ southernmost tip, a diverse ride with some of the most perfect twisty mountain roads on the planet! Riders will cross the rice growing area surrounding the historic village of Pals before tackling the climb over the mountains to the Costa Brava seaside town of Calonge. Then the route runs along the coast to the village of Calella de Palafrugell. Accommodation: Guests will stay in the exclusive and fashionable sea side town of Calella de Palafrugell.
Day 5 Route: Calella de Palafrugell to Llagostera
Difficulty: Hard Length: 55km Description: This ride takes riders past the principle town of the region famous for its ceramic production, Bisbal d’Empordá before crossing over the Gavarres mountains to the coastal town of Calonge and after glimpsing the sea the route takes riders over the Gavarres again passing the hilltop village of Romanya de la selva then riders will descend directly into the village of Llagostera. Guests will visit the fishing museum in one of the most important villages on the Costa Brava, Palamos and sample the Spanish Mediterranean national dish of fresh Paella next to the harbor where the catch of the day comes ashore. Guests will stay in an idyllic and traditional Catalan farm house.
Day 6 Route: Llagostera to Girona.
Difficulty: Medium Length: 80km Description: After a hearty Catalan farm house breakfast guest undertake the toughest ride of the week running south again following the Costa Brava coast before passing over the renowned Sant Grau pass at 600m, after passing through the fishing village of Sant Feliu de Guixols, one of the most difficult climbs in the area, and part of the route of the Girona to Barcelona stage of the 2009 Tour de France, this route returns our guests to the city of Girona. The final ride completes the experience riding back towards the city of Girona passing the market villages of Cassà de la Selva and Quart as the landscape begins to change as we come closer to the Pyrenees. The final meal in Girona allows guests to enjoy the very best traditional Catalan food served as tapas with modern flare in a lively riverside restaurant. Riders will return to the same Girona hotels as the first night for the final night of the tour
