 Explore the region beloved by Dalí and his wife, by road bike. This seven night tour gives our guests a unique chance to enjoy the Catalan counties of Empordà and Gironès, areas internationally famous for their stunning unspoiled countryside and delicious traditional food.
Salvador Dalí, the flamboyant pioneer of Surrealism and arguably one of the greatest artists of the 20th century, was born in Figueres on 11th May 1904. Throughout his life and despite having a career that took him all over the world - including Paris and America - he always returned to the Costa Brava.
The Dalí triangle takes in the artist’s Theatre Museum in his birthplace Figueres, his home at Portlligat, on the coast near Cadaqués, and Gala’s Púbol Castle to the south in Lower Empordà . Bike breaks now offers the only bike trip giving you the chance to visit bike most of the famous Dali triangle and a lot more besides.
This bike tour takes riders on a journey around the region visiting both Gala’s castle in the little village of Púbol and the world famous museum in Figueres. In addition to these visits the tour winds through many of the fishing villages and ports along the Costa Brava and explores the rolling hills and secluded rural houses of the interior.

Day 1
Arrival in Girona Welcome meeting and bike fitting.
Day 2
Route: Girona to Sant Feliu de Guixols
Difficulty: Medium Length: 60 km Description: The first day of the tour and riders ride part of the 2009 Tour de France stage from Girona to Barcelona, up to the mountain top of Sant Grau, overlooking the beautiful Med sea and descending on a windy coastal road into the old fishing village of Sant Feliu de Guixols and after a walk along the promenade watch the sun set over and contemplate the Mediterranean sea, guests will stay in one of our carefully selected seaside hotels located minutes from the beach.
Day 3 Route: Sant Feliu de Guixols to Calella de Palafrugell
Difficulty: Medium Length: 60km Description: For day two on the bike, riders follow the route north along the Costa Brava coast passing into the northern part of the Empordà county. Riders cut over the Gavarres mountain range, facing the well-known climb to the mountain village of Romanya de la Selva, riders will finish the ride staying in the exclusive and fashionable sea side town of Calella de Palafrugell.
Day 4 Route: Calella de Palafrugell to La Pera
Difficulty: Medium Length: 40km Description: This ride continues to take riders north cutting inland and passing through one of the most unique and incredible landscapes in Europe. Today’s climb is over Santa Pellaia mountain, which takes you to a landscape littered with ancient stone houses and castles, one of which was bought by Dalí for his beloved wife Gala and is maintained now as a museum, in the tiny village of Púbol. Guests will stay in a family run farmhouse accommodation a few kilometers from the castle museum and enjoy a properly home-cooked Catalan meal.
Day 5 Route: La Pera to Sant Pere Pescador
Difficulty: Medium Length: 45km Description: The fourth day on the bike takes riders north again deep into the wine and olive groves of the Alt Empordà. Today is an easy ride on the flat, to allow guests to take in the fantastic landscape. Optional visit to Sant Marti d’Empúries and the Greco-Roman city that gives the region its name, Emporion where the Romans introduced wine to the peninsula! Guests will stay in another beautiful farmhouse accommodation, a short distance from the kilometers wide sandy beach of the Roses bay.
Day 6 Route:Circular route of Sant Pere Pescador via Figueres
Difficulty: Easy Length: 55km Description: This is a short and very easy route up to the vineyards of Alt Empordà and then passing through the city of Figueres, home to the Salvador Dalí Museum!! Guests enjoy a chance to visit the world famous Dalí museum and the Dalí Jewels Gallery and have a well-earned lunch on the Rambla in the city Dalí called home. Guests will return for a second night in the farmhouse.
Day 7 Route:Sant Pere Pescador to Girona
Difficulty: Medium Length: 55km Description: The final day on the bike and riders return to the capital city of the region Girona. Another stunning route through the rolling hills and vineyards of Empordà provides the perfect end to the perfect week. Guests will return to the medieval old town in Girona for their last night in Catalunya.
